2008 Coaches Convention - Feb 9-10, 2008
Fee: You must have a current membership with US Lacrosse to attend the coaches convention. If your membership lapses between registration and the convention date you will be required to renew your membership before attending. Renewals can be done at the convention.
The Washington State Chapter of US Lacrosse is hosting the second annual coaches convention February 9-10, 2008 at Seattle Pacific University. Additional details will be posted as they are available:

Keynote Speaker Bruce Brown - "Teaching character is not a choice that great coaches have - If you truly love your players, you will teach and hold them accountable to the highest possible behavioral standards. It is what gives this coaching profession and the experience of athletic participation value." Once again, the WA Chapter is pleased to present Bruce Brown as our Keynote Speaker for the 2008 Convention. Bruce is the Director of Proactive Coaching and has 35 years as a teacher, coach and athletic administrator at the jr. high, high school, jr. college and college levels. He is the recipient of the 2003 Lifetime Achievement Award - Citizenship Through Sports Alliance; the 2002 NAIA National Co-Athletic Director of the Year and the 2005 American Baseball Coaches "Honor" Award with Cal Ripken, Jr. Bruce is a clinician - speaking nationally to athletes, coaches, parents and school districts. He is a national presenter for the NAIA's "Champions of Character Program". Lacrosse Presenters Kevin Sheehan - Kevin has been involved in coaching boys and girls lacrosse on all levels throughout the US for the past 15 years. He is a nationally recognized lacrosse speaker and has been a key presenter at the last 7 National Lacrosse Conventions. He has authored numerous articles for Lacrosse Magazine. Kevin was the recipient of the 2003 US Lacrosse Youth Coaches Award for Innovative Youth Coaching. He coached at Adelphi University for 17 years and helped his teams captured 3 Division II and Division II-III National Championships, as well as receiving 4 NCAA Division I bids to the NCAA tournament. He served as assistant coach of the 1998 and 2002 Australian National Teams where Australia captured Bronze Medals for the World Championships. In 2007 Kevin was inducted into the LI Metropolitan Hall of Fame. Gordon Purdie - Gordon was named head coach at Adelphi University (NY) in July, 2007. A two-time All-American for Adelphi he helped them to two NCAA Division I appearances, holds numerous Adelphi records and was inducted into the Adelphi HOF in 1995. Gordon played 7 times for the Australian Lacrosse World team. He played professional indoor lacrosse for the NY Saints, NJ Storm and Anaheim Storm and has appeared twice in the ILF World Championships (2003, 2007). Gordon coached at the Waldorf School (NY) from 1994-2007 and was named NY Metro Lacrosse Assoc. HS Coach of the Year in 1997. He will be inducted into the LI Metropolitan Lacrosse Hall of Fame in the February, 2008. Timoth Flynn - Tim is the Assistant Coach for the 2008 USA U-19 National Team that will be visiting Seattle in June. He has been the head coach at Mountain Lakes (NJ) HS since 1980 and is he winningest coach in NJ high school history with 452 victories. He has led his school to 17 league championships, 10 county championships and 7 state championships. Tim has coached numerous high school and college All-Americans. He is the past president of the NJ Lacrosse Coaches Association, was inducted into the US Lacrosse/NJ Chapter Hall of Fame in 1998 and the NJ Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2000. Tim is a graduate of Montclair State Univ. where he was an All-Conference midfielder. Glenn Morley - A member of the Australian Squad 2004-2006, All-Australian 2006, and the Australian Indoor Squad 2007, we are pleased that Glenn has joined the Seattle lacrosse community. He played on the West Australian National U-15 and U-17 teams and worked with the Australian Sports Commission-Youth Coach Education Division. Glenn has a degree in physical and health education and majored in sports psychology and sociology at the University of Western Australia. He is the Director of Youth Lacrosse on Mercer Island. In his spare time he is the Store Manager at Breakaway Lacrosse/Seattle and is also Team Sales Manager for Breakaway Bellevue/Seattle. Denise Wescott - Denise has 25 years of experience coaching women's lacrosse and is presently the head coach at Mount St. Mary's U. She led her team to its 3rd Northeast Conference regular season title in 4 years and was named the Northeast Conference Coach of the Year. Denise was inducted into the US Lacrosse/NJ Chapter Hall of Fame in 2005. From 1994-2005 Denise was head coach of the German National Team leading the squad to 8 European Cups and 2 World Cups. From 1993-2004 she was head coach at Univ. of Delaware. She played at Univ. of Maryland and was a 4-year starting goalkeeper for the Terrapins. Amy McCleary - Amy joined the staff at UC Berkeley (CA) in 2005 with 10 years of coaching experience. Since 1996 she has served as the Assoc. head coach for the German National Team assisting Denise to lead the team to 2 World Cups. Amy was head coach at Santa Catalina School (CA) from 2001-2003 before joining the staff at James Madison Univ. (VA) until 2005. From 1996-2000 she was an assistant coach at Univ. of Delaware. Amy was a 2-time All-American and 4-year starter at Washington College (MD).
