Washington high school lacrosse scores for Monday, April 12

Boys Division II

Mercer Island JV rides over Roosevelt

SEATTLE – Mercer Island’s JV lacrosse squad downed Roosevelt 15 – 1, Monday in boys high school lacrosse action at Lower Woodland Park.

SCORING HIGHLIGHTS: Mercer Island JV 15, Roosevelt 1 (no scoring details available)

Girls Division I

Bellevue downs Garfield in girls lacrosse

SEATTLE – Senior midfielder Merielle Moffatt scored 6 goals and Adrienne Greenberg scored 5 as second place Bellevue advanced to 4-1-1 on the season with a 16 – 9 defeat of Garfield in Girls Division I high school lacrosse, Monday at Garfield High School. Ariel Haustveit had 10 saves in goal for the Wolverines. Cori Allan had 4 goals and an assist, as the Bulldogs dropped to 2-4-0.

Girls Division II

Ballard girls top North Kitsap in lacrosse

POULSBO, Wash. – Junior captain Jayne Barnes scored 3 goals as Ballard High School topped North Kitsap 10 – 5 in Girls Division II high school lacrosse action, Monday at North Kitsap High School Stadium. The win evened the Beavers’ record at 3-3-0 on the season. Victoria Thomas had 4 goals and Val Kranich had 13 saves for the Vikings, who remain winless in 4 starts.

SCORING HIGHLIGHTS: Ballard 10, North Kitsap 5 (Jayne Barnes, B, 3 goals, 2 assists, 4 ground balls; Hannah Breton, B, 4 saves; Victoria Thomas, NK, 4 goals, 3 ground balls; Val Kranich, NK, 13 saves)

About High School Lacrosse in Washington State
Lacrosse is the fastest growing sport in the U.S. and in Washington State the sport has seen double-digit growth in six of the last eight years. In 2010, over 2,700 high school students representing 83 boys (www.WHSBLA.org) and 55 girls (www.WSLAX.org) varsity and jv teams in eastern and western Washington compete in a nine-week season March – May. The annual Boys and Girls Washington State High School Championships take place in late May.
