Washington high school lacrosse scores for Sunday, April 11

Boys Division II

Wenatchee rolls past Garfield in boys lacrosse
WENATCHEE, Wash. – Senior captain Connor Tidd scored 2 goals and collected 6 ground balls to lead Wenatchee to a 12 – 3 Boys Division II high school lacrosse win over Garfield, Sunday at Wenatchee Valley College. The win advanced the Eastern Conference leaders to 4-0-0 in conference play (5-1-0 overall). Tidd’s 2 goals gave him 9 on the season in 4 games played. Wenatchee goalkeeper Thomas Bass had 10 saves. Garfield frosh goalkeeper Danny Strick had 16 saves in the loss, which dropped the Bulldogs to 3-2-0 on the season. Garfield next sees action, Tuesday against Franklin, while Wenatchee takes on travels to Seattle, Friday to take on Roosevelt High School.

Lacrosse is the fastest growing sport in the U.S. and in Washington State the sport has seen double-digit growth in six of the last eight years. In 2010, over 2,700 high school students representing 83 boys (www.WHSBLA.org) and 55 girls (www.WSLAX.org) varsity and jv teams in eastern and western Washington compete in a nine-week season March – May. The annual Boys and Girls Washington State High School Championships take place in late May.
