Snohomish downs Seattle Prep in boys lacrosse
SNOHOMISH, Wash. – Justin Jones scored 3 goals and 2 assists to lead Snohomish to a 9 – 7 Boys Division I lacrosse win over Seattle Prep, Monday at Harvey Field. Seattle Prep’s Cassidy Miller tallied 5 goals in the loss for the Panthers.

MI drops Lake Sammamish in girls lacrosse
REDMOND, Wash. – Mercer Island’s Ellen Haas scored a hat trick to lift the Islanders to a 16 – 11 win over Lake Sammamish, Monday at Marymoor Park in Redmond. In the win, Islander goalkeeper Erika Egan turned away 17 Lake Sammamish shots. Ali Savage and Olivia Krueger each scored 3 for Lake Sammamish.

Kennedy blanks Graham-Kapowsin in girls lacrosse
BURIEN, Wash. – Natalie Merrill unleashed 5 goals to lift Kennedy High School to a 16-0 shutout win over Graham-Kapowsin, to open the girls high school lacrosse season Monday at Kennedy High School. A total of 9 Lancers connected for goals in the win.

Tacoma outlasts Holy Names to open girls lacrosse season
TACOMA, Wash. – Ari Zimmer and Saide Trelezen each scored two goals as Tacoma outlasted Holy Names 6 – 4 to open the girls high school lacrosse season, Monday at Mason Middle School in Tacoma. Caroline Vokos tallied 2 goals and Katie Arthofor had 15 saves in the loss for Holy Names.

Auburn Mountain View downs Holy Names in girls DII lacrosse
SEATTLE – Hannah Morse unleashed 8 goals as Auburn Mountain View downed Holy Names 15 – 5 in girls Division II lacrosse, Monday at Seattle’s Magnuson Park. A total of 5 Auburn players scored in the opening win. The Cougars’ Jenna Johnston and Megan Chamberlain each scored two in the loss.

About High School Lacrosse in Washington State
Lacrosse is the fastest growing sport in the U.S. and in Washington State the sport has seen double-digit growth in six of the last eight years. In 2010, over 2,700 high school students representing 83 boys (www.WHSBLA.org) and 55 girls (www.WSLAX.org) varsity and jv teams in eastern and western Washington compete in a nine-week season March – May. The annual Boys and Girls Washington State High School Championships take place in late May.

BURIEN, Wash. – Natalie Merrill scored four goals to lift Kennedy to a 15 – 4 Girls Division II varsity lacrosse win over Auburn Mountainview, Friday at Kennedy High School in Burien, Wash.

The Lancers got out of the gates early with Merrill connecting at 23:40 on the first for her four goals on the night Shea McCormick found the net just one minute later to make it 2 – 0, Kennedy. Merrill then scored her second on the night at 15:19 to give Kennedy the early 3 – 0 lead.

With a 6 – 2 advantage to start off the second half, Kennedy again found the net early, scoring the first three of their nine second half goals before Auburn got on the board. Cori Allen connected first, just 38 seconds into the half, to put the Lancers up 7 – 2. Katrina Krebsbach then found the net just over a minute later, followed by a Melanie Hughes goal at 21:21 to make it 9 – 2.

Kennedy goalkeeper Sofia Morales (3-1-0) faced just six shots in the win, while Auburn’s Kayla O’Grady (0-2-0) faced 35 shots, making 20 saves in the loss for Auburn Mountainview.

About High School Lacrosse in Washington State
Lacrosse is the fastest growing sport in the U.S. and in Washington State the sport has seen double-digit growth in five of the last seven years. In 2009, over 2,370 high school students representing 75 boys and 49 girls varsity and junior varsity teams in Washington state will compete in a nine-week season March – May with the annual Washington State High School Championships taking place May 16 (girls) and May 30 (boys). Varsity boys lacrosse is contested in the Washington High School Boys Lacrosse Association (www.WHSBLA.org) with 14 Division I and 28 Division II teams. Varsity girls lacrosse is contested in The Washington Schoolgirls Lacrosse Association (www.WSLAX.org) with 15 Division I and 16 Division II teams. Most of the teams represent high schools throughout the Puget Sound area.
